Astrology is a very famous and well known topic. Hundreds of books are written about astrology. We will try not to repeat all that stuff, but to give you a critical evaluation about what astrology really can and what it cannot achieve, founded on our own astrological research. One of our members has got a 30-years experience of making horoscopes and we will represent his view here:
The complicate astronomical calculations needed, to create a complete horoscope are unknown for those reading only their newspaper-horoscopes. (Be aware, we are talking here about complete horoscopes made by astrologers, newspaper-horoscopes are not complete horoscopes but only a very tiny and general part of it; better to ignore them). All the positions of the planets have to be calculated (for your birth-date and -time). It's an extremely complex task if you want to be very accurate and if you consider the gravitational forces between all the planets, too (10-body problem without moons and asteroids). With today's computers calculating goes fast, but astrologers living in earlier times had to do this by hand.
Probably the origin of the astrological signs is also more unknown. They were created thousands of years ago in Egypt. Simplified expressed: The old Egyptians put their monthly activities up into the sky. When they were crab-fishing they named the stars above them cancer, etc.
As you see astrology is very old and was used in different form from many old civilizations. Also prophets like Nostradamus used it.
Astrology's calculations are based on difficult science. Astronomy, trigonometry and mathematics. But astrology is under heavy attack from science. For science astrology is nonsense, superstition. Why? Not the calculations are nonsense but the interpretations, the fortune-telling. From the point of view of the materialistic science such things are impossible. Furthermore science reproach astrology for being illogical.
Because we want to show here the critical aspects of astrology and don't want to defend astrology against science we give you two examples of astrology's illogic:
Horoscopes are not equal horoscopes. There are different calculations- methods for the houses (1. house is the famous ascendant) like the Placidus-method or the Koch-method and many others. As a consequence the interpretations of the same person's horoscope are different. But which one is the right one?
The polar axis is circling around. The spring point is now at a different position than 2000 years ago. The consequences for astrology are simple, today's signs are not yesterday's signs. If you are Pisces you should be Aquarius.
We don't share the science's materialistic point of view but we agree that astrology is not logical science because it's foundation is an esoteric and non-materialistic view of the universe. We tell you now what we think that astrology really can achieve. First we have to separate two different ways of astrology. One way is Character-Analysis, the second way is Prognosis of the Future.
Our research shows that astrology is able to analyse a person's character with a precision of about 40% till 50%. Astrology can do that because in reality we live in an 'esoteric universe'. The moment we are born is a significant event. It is not a random event. And because we are connected with the whole universe the position of the planets at our birthday shows how we are connected to them and, in which way the planet's representations are connected to us. As a simple example let's say a planet is equal a quality. If the planet's position is far from the sun you have less of that quality as component of your character, but if the planet's position is near the sun you have a lot of that quality. Or if two planet's positions are near together their qualities influence each other.
Astrology cannot analyse your whole character (that's why you mostly read your horoscope like this: 'this is true, this is not true, this is true'), because each character is very complicate, much too complicate to be analysed 100% by a horoscope.
If he is an experienced and intuitive astrologer he can raise the analysis rate from about 50% to about 70%. That's the reason computer horoscopes are not the best of the best. An experienced astrologer uses astrology as a magnifying glass to analyze your character. A good Character-Astrologer can help you to understand your own character, your own abilities better. He will as well show you the dangers and danger zones of your character. He can also compare two birth-horoscopes from two different persons and tell them how they are suited to each other. He does not predict your future but he helps you to build a good one or better one.
Probably astrology will always be abused to foresee the future, but we don't think that astrology is able to predict your future. The conclusions of our own astrological research shows that it isn't possible to predict a person's future. Astrology is not the right tool for prognosis of the future. It's an old esoteric character analysing tool and nothing more. Our own esoteric view is that TIME itself is not easy to predict and we don't believe that the future is predetermined. Millions of events and actions build the future. And nine planets and a moon should be able to predict it? Not in our view. If at all, it's perhaps possible to give a person a probability of how the future will develop, if a person acts that way or another according to its character. That's the most a Character-Astrologer could do.
If you're interested in Astrology look for a good Character-Astrologer. You will get the most for your money. If you like Astrology-Prognosis don't take it too serious.
